The Caucasian Chalk Circle Collective

Past Event

Event flyre with the information about the eventThe Caucasian Chalk Circle Collective (Frankie Armstrong, Mikey Price, Helen Chadwick, Kirsty Martin, Sally Davies, Rowena Whitehead, Pauline Down, Joanna Foster and Martina Schwarz) are a bunch of the most wonderful singing leaders and singers on the planet! and I’m not exaggerating.  8 of the 9 are long-standing members of the Natural Voice Practitioners Network and one, Frankie Armstrong, is its founder more or less.

Three of them – Helen Chadwick, Sally Davies and Kirsty Martin have been up to Kendal to run wonderful singing days – and all will be back we hope!

Collectively they know more about singing and theatre and getting people singing than you can shake a stick at (what an expression!). Anyway, they’re all coming to Bowness on Windermere to perform at The Old Laundry Theatre on Monday 26th October (the Monday evening of the October half-term for those of you that speak Cumbrian-school-term-time).  What they say on their flyer is:

“Combining spine tingling close harmony a cappella with a foot stomping, riotous orchestra, Revolutionary Ballads breathes new life into Brecht’s Caucasian Chalk Circle. This re-telling of Brecht’s classic story of social unrest, loyalty and justice features new original settings of songs from the play by vocal composer Kirsty Martin.

The Chalk Circle Collective is: Sally Davies, Pauline Down, Joanna Foster, Kirsty Martin, Martina Schwarz and Rowena Whitehead. Joining the Collective will be world renowned folk singer Frankie Armstrong and multi instrumentalist Mikey Price performing Kurt Weill and Hans Eisler settings of Brecht songs.”

I cannot recommend enough that you head out to Bowness – I’ll give you a lift if you’re in need! and come and see this once in a lifetime chance to hear this bunch perform together locally (I hope that’s not really true).
