Liz, Jeanette and Etain, wonderful Tuesday Dawn Chorus singers, organised a Christmas meal at Comida in December. It was a splendid way to spend a few hours after our usual singing session. We turned the tables and had an extensive tapas selection followed by delicious churros and chocolate sauce! Thank you so much to the amazing staff team at Comida, who always make us feel very welcome.

All Sing
It was wonderful to fill 98 Highgate with the sound of singing and laughter just before Christmas. Growing Well were delighted to receive our collection of an amazing £210.57 – thanks so much to all who supported us. It was great to have singers from all our 3 drop in chorus groups as well as members of The Growing Singers all enjoying together the benefits of a jolly good sing!
Growing Singers Volunteer at Growing Well
During the summer, members of The Growing Singers had a brilliant couple of visits to Growing Well and see for themselves how their donations are being put to excellent use and to volunteer their services. Most Fridays Growing Well welcomes community volunteers to crack on with the weekly list of varied jobs that need doing. We picked lots of French beans, weeded the kale patch, pinched out tomato plants and planted seedlings among other jobs too. What a pleasure it was to spend time there, chatting and getting to know each other better as we worked away.
Growing Singers in Grange-over-Sands
Over the Summer The Growing Singers were delighted to sing in Grange-over-Sands as part of their special Bandstand concert series. We entertained the gathered crowd basking in the glorious sunshine and, together with Kendal’s Flutes & Co, raised a wonderful £201.00 for Growing Well, the local charity based at Low Sizergh Farm, Kendal. Growing Well have helped hundreds of people recover from mental health challenges, with their unique approach to recovery through supported activity in the outdoors, within a real-world horticulture enterprise, supported and guided by experienced therapeutic growers and mental health support staff. Thank you to Jo Knox and others for these photos. We are hoping to do this again next year – would be ideal to be able to book the same weather – we’ll see!
The Growing Singers with Carer Support South Lakes and Cancer Care
THANK YOU SO MUCH to all our performers and supporters on 19th July – we are delighted to announce that we raised £1716.40 in total and Cancer Care and Carer Support South Lakes have each received a wonderful £858.20. This money will be spent caring and supporting local people at times in their lives when they need it the most. We all had a most brilliant evening. Here are just a few of the many positive comments we received…
“A joyous evening.”
“A evening filled with the feeling of warmth and purpose. Absolutely great fun!”
“Wow that song Let Time Be Your Friend was so complex and gorgeous!”
“I felt a huge sense of togetherness and inclusion.”
A Bracing Sing!
The Growing Singers were delighted to be invited to sing at CountryFest – “a fun-filled weekend for all the family. Arena demonstrations, food, craft and shopping marquees, baking and craft sections, historic cars, military vehicles, lots of food & drink or soak up the sunshine (fingers crossed!) and kick back listening to one of the many amazing performers on the band stand.”
However the weather had other ideas.
We didn’t let it dampen our spirits as we performed twice during the day with lots of familiar and rousing songs. Our brave audience clapped as loudly as ever – we sooo appreciated that!
Busking for Kendal’s Nature Recovery Festival
The Growing Singers entertained the good people of Kendal in support of our first Nature Recovery Festival. The sun shone and an appreciative audience gathered round us as we sang. Later in the day, we sang in the surprisingly beautifully resonant space near all the stall holders of the festival. Thank you to everyone who stopped, smiled and listened to us! We so enjoyed adding our support and songs to this important cause.
